Sometimes we just seem to be going nowhere...

This really isn't a downer post at all.  It's making fun of Robby's newest form of transportation.  And sharing some videos.

And for good measure.  Here is how close to standing we are.  Ignore that he falls at the end.  He was fine.

Oh, one more.  His favorite Christmas present.

Trying to Learn to Use my Camera

One afternoon when we were playing in the nursery, I pulled out my camera and decided to try and figure out exactly what each setting did.  Using my son as a model.  (Yes, I hear you laughing)  Here is how helpful he was.

Then I found a new model:

My 2011 Favorite - Photo Challenge

I know I've been quiet, we're all sick again here.  Robby's back on antibiotics for an ear infection, and we've all been running fevers and missing work and daycare.  But two posts today to make up for it, ok?

This is my absolute favorite photo from last year.  It was a hard decision, but, I'm sure.  Maybe?  I know that it's bizarre that it's a nursing photo, but I just love how sweet and peaceful he looks here.  SO not the norm!  ;)

A Boy's First Train Set

Chris is passionate about the idea that every boy needs a train set.  Unfortunately, in Chris's mind, this means a train set that is in NO way appropriate for a 7-month-old.  Fortunately, his mother stepped in a bit.  This Christmas, two train sets arrived at our house.  Chris's old, grown-up, potentially dangerous train set was immediately set up on our dining room floor the second company left (and was put away for now after I expressed my horror that it was in reach of our very mobile child).  However, an adorable and age-appropriate set was gifted to Robby on Christmas.

I can't wait for Robby to realize that it's meant for more than just practicing his dexterity at picking things up or chewing, but it's cute, and more importantly, safe and easy to put away.

It's meant to attach to a mat, but really, then he wouldn't get to maul them.  And what fun is that?  Anyway, thanks, Nancy!  He's enjoying it!

My Child is a Live Wire - Photo Challenge

Two posts in one day?  Have I lost my mind?  Well, I saw everyone else doing this challenge, and thought, "Hey, I've been meaning to get better at taking pictures."  Unfortunately, my child is asleep, and I've misplaced the cat and dog, so you're getting a photo from a shoot you've already seen bits of.  Here is my little man sparkling his little fingers off.  He sure is a live wire!

The Challenge is "Sparkle"

Reflections on 31

I am now 31 (as of yesterday).  I'm owning it.  Even if I wasn't, my mom was plastering it all over my facebook wall.  (Definitely kidding, I'm just enjoying harassing her.)  For some reason, it does seem substantially older than 30, but it still doesn't bother me.

I recently was at a baby shower and was talking to another guest who was about to turn 30.  She asked if it had bothered me, and I honestly answered, "Not really."  We came to the conclusion that both of us were fine with it because we were where we expected to be in life.  My career may not be where I had thought, but I am married, have a wonderful son, and own my home.  She was in a similar position.

This year it is my goal to be happy with where I am at.  Being part time may have depressed me greatly when it happened, but I am so grateful that I get to spend this time with the Lion.  That change in perspective has really made me resolve to be happy with whatever my current situation is, even if it wasn't part of my life plan.  Here's to a fabulous 31!

2012 Resolutions

Here's to accountability!  The resolution list this year looks surprisingly familiar.  But don't all of ours?  Of course, there's things that I can't put on here that are still resolutions, but so be it.  I'll still do 10.

1)  At least 1/2 hour of exercise a day.  (Following the footsteps of an IRL friend of mine that MADE it last year.  Every.  Single.  Day.)
2)  Eat a healthier, more balanced diet with the goal of cutting out white sugar and flour.  (I am NOT trying to lose weight.  I just eat a lot of crap.)
3)  PR on a 5k.  (This is easy.  My PR is 31 minutes, and I've never trained seriously.)
4)  Run Broad Street (10m) for REAL this year.  (No dog park injuries, getting pregnant, none of that.  You hear?)
5)  Get the house on a schedule.  (Cleaning, chores, the fun stuff)
6)  Get Robby sleeping through the night.
7)  Eat more vegetarian meals again.  (I fully intend to drop the meat completely once Robby is weaned, but who knows when that will be.)
8)  Dry (or style) my hair daily.
9)  Purge items we don't use.  (clothes, attic, etc...  If it's decent, we want to have a yard sale, but it's probably not)
10)  Keep in touch with people better.

Those all seem ambitious enough.  And, of course, anyone who knows me knows what is left off the list, and that's HUGE.  So...here's to a great New Year!!!

What's everyone else trying to accomplish this year?
